Pergamon or Bergama, ancient Greek city in Asia Minor famous for the Altar of Zeus now in Berlin, called "Satan's throne" in Revelation 2:13

Fishburn and Hughes: "A city of Asia Minor fifty miles north of Smyrna and fifteen miles inland. One of the most beautiful of Greek cities in the Hellenistic period, its library was second only to that of Alexandria. In 130 BC Pergamum passed to Rome; its people were early converts to Christianity. No record is known of a Council held in Pergamum." (151)
