Macrobius philosophical dialogue

Fishburn and Hughes: More correctly known as Saturnalia: a Latin work by the fifth-century author Macrobius. It consists of seven books. The first describes the origin and history of Roman festivals and tries to prove that all pagan theology, whether Roman, Greek, Egyptian or Assyrian, leads to the cult of the sun. Heliopolis is mentioned in this context. Books 2 and 3 comment on various Roman writers, especially Virgil. The remaining four books deal with assorted topics, from table conversation and the digestibility of foods to vertigo, whitening of the hair, blushing and the voice of eunuchs. The Cult of the Phoenix
